The group of towns and surrounding land that make up the Barossa Valley are not much more than 1 hour from Adelaide.  Although it is famous for its wine, there is still plenty on offer for a family holiday.  Acres and acres of vines cover the gentle undulating land around Angaston and make for beautiful scenic drives.  Great for when the kids need a rest in the car.  The weather is quite good year round, winter can be wet though. You'll find great little antique and craft shops in towns like Tanunda.
