Bundaberg and Bargara region Alexandra Park, Quay Street – Playground, zoo, riverside walk, picnic facilities and toilets. A beautiful and clean zoo with birds, kangaroos, deer, ducks, emus and more. The playground is great and even has a section suitable for wheelchairs. The whole place is free and close to the centre of town. A great spot to let the kids explore for a while.
Baldwin Swamp, access via Steindl or George Streets – Wetlands, bird life, walking tracks, bikeway, boardwalk, picnic facilities and toilets.
Boreham Park – Monorail track – pedal – or push the younger ones.
Botanical Gardens – Lagoons, bird life – feed the ducks, playground, beautiful walks, steam train, museums.
Central Park Skate Bowl – Walla Street, open daylight hours. The Hummock, access via Bargara Road or Windermere Road– Extinct Volcanic cinder cone, boardwalks through remnant rainforest to lookout from water tower, picnic facilities and toilets.
Queens Park , access via Mulgrave Street – Parkland alongside river, picnic tables and toilets. Take a line and go fishing!
Bargara – Explore and have fun on the giant turtle, walk along the oceanfront walks.
Moore Park – moderate surf beach and wetlands boardwalk. Neilson Park Beach, Kelly’s Beach, The Oaks Beach, Elliott Heads Beach – excellent for rock walking on the beach fringes and looking for marine life in the rockpools. Make a sandcastle and have fish and chips on the beach!
Rock Pools – At low tide see the coral and fish life especially at Butchers Rocks, between Mon Repos and Burnett Heads and Barolin Rocks at the entrance to Coral Cove.
