Hervey Bay is a leisurely 3 hours drive north of Brisbane. On arriving in ‘The Bay' one of the first things you notice is the beautiful children friendly beaches, with crystal clear waters, gently rolling tides, lovely white sand. The tropical climate allows swimming all year round, safe in the knowledge there are no stingers, rips or jelly fish. There are plenty of cheap activities for the active family, such as fishing, bikeriding, walking, picnicing in one of the many foreshore parks or the Botanic Gardens. Hervey Bay has an enviable climate with warm winter days, and in summer they find relief from the ocean breezes and the temperature rarely gets over 30 degrees. Perfect for year round beach holidays. "The Bay" has many caravan and camping parks, beachfront apartments or backpackers and budget accomodation. Much of it positioned along the esplanade, within walking distance to a selection of top pubs and restaurants. It is a perfect spot to access the wonderful Fraser Island (a 4WD only sand island). From August to November, you can take the kids out to see the whales at play. The experience of seeing the gentle giants and their calves breaching in the warm waters of Hervey Bay is one you will never forget. They host the popular Hervey Bay Whale Festival in August and the Hervey Bay Light Up The City Festival, at the beginning of December. Hervey Bay has something for everyone. The Whales come here to play-why don't you! |
