The Cape Paterson Caravan Park in Cape Paterson, Victoria gave us a great holiday. It is just of the Bass Highway on the Victorian coastline south east of Melbourne – about 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne. 

It requires a drive down a small road which tricks some people into thinking it is the wrong road, but it isn’t! The park has onsite vans and sites for caravans and camping. We camped under some trees on the far side of the open grass area so the kids would have plenty of space to run and play. 

On the other side of the caravan park a short walk of about 2 minutes through the bush lands you next to the Patterson River. Walk along the rover and you’ll soon see Bass Strait and wide expanses of sand. 

The facilities are basic but clean, the beach is superb and it’s not far from various seaside towns and attractions. Great spot for a family holiday without spending too much.
