You can hire a yacht or get a group together and hire the boat, skipper and the cook. We've done this with friends and its not as expensive as it sounds. You have the benefit of being able to go where you like, when you like. We had toddlers onboard so we were able to add in plenty of beach stops for them to play and run.
The islands of Airlie Beach are part of the Great Barrier Reef so the snorkelling and diving is fabulous.
