Hey Grandma, I was going to just send you a postcard, but there wasn't enough space on one of those tiny cards to fill you in on all the cool things about our trip to Big White and Silver Star. The plane ride was amazing. We flew direct from Sydney to Vancouver on Air Canada (sick TVs on the back of the seats meant I didn't have to listen to Dad snoring). Jennifer and I watched four movies while Mom watched cooking shows. Hope it helps!
We caught a quick flight from Vancouver to Kelowna and about an hour later we arrived at Big White. We checked into our condo (which has its own private hot tub and big screen TV) before heading to a restaurant called Snowshoe Sam's. Dad had this crazy drink, a gun barrel coffee. They set the drink on fire as it pours down the barrel of the gun into the glass. Jennifer thought that the gun was going to go off, mom almost died laughing.
We could snowboard right from our condo to the Snow Ghost Express chairlift. Speaking of Snow Ghosts, you have to see them here. These trees are completely covered in snow and bent into all kinds of cool shapes. I will e-mail you some pictures. Wednesday we got 25 cm’s of fresh snow! Dad said his legs felt like to rubber bands when the day was over. When he got out of the hot tub that night he looked like a raisin.
Jennifer spent most of the week in lessons and had a great time while I played in Telus Terrain Park. Wicked jumps and gnarly rails! Dad says we can even go on a dog-sled ride!
The village, scenery, and people were all so super friendly. After the first week was over we got up early and took a two hour ride to Silver Star. Its village is smaller, but so cool. It has a Victorian theme and cool little shops (Jennifer loves The Goodie Box - all kinds of neat gifts and candy. I played Nintendo Wii in The Saloon. I kicked Dad's butt in Guitar Hero.
Our room is right in the village and we are about 75 M from this cool bakery called Bugaboos. Mom insists on having a latte and croissant every morning. They have this one section of the mountain called Putnam Creek — man it's steep and deep! Dad and Mom took one look down Chute Five and then decided go for lunch. Jennifer stuck to the kids terrain park on the front side of the mountain.
Tonight we are taking a snow cat to dinner at Paradise Camp and tomorrow we are going on an old fashioned sleigh ride. Jennifer and I are going to the skating pond for lessons and then to Tube Town! Everybody says hello and we miss you!
P.S. Jennifer said don't forget to feed the cat and Dad wants you to water the grass.
Love, Jeremy
