Redcliffe
Settlement Cove, on the esplanade at Redcliffe. Stunning beachfront park with manmade lagoon swimming pool, playgrounds, lawn and km's of bike and walking paths. Plenty of lawned areas to picnic, bbq's available. Shops and cafes across the road. Bungy trampolines (pay to use) on the foreshore over summer and holidays. Highly recommend visiting this park. Pool not fenced.
Suttons Beach is fantastic - slide and swings, ropes and pulls. The 'giant pool' and 'massive sandpit' aka beach is right there too with changing rooms and the best fish and chips across the road, or indulge at Sam's On Suttons cafe or take-away. Brilliant (and can be inexpensive) day out. Suttons Beach is five minutes south of Redcliffe, Brisbane. thanks to J.O. Qld

The neighbouring Botanic gardens are regarded as among the best in regional Australia. Excellent specimens of palms, cycads and ferns are found throughout the beautifully manicured grounds. Some specimens are more than 100 years old. Be sure to visit the Japanese Garden. The Garden's Tearoom, picnic tables and free barbeque facilities make it an ideal spot for a picnic.
Rockhampton's Kershaw Gardens represent a natural Australian bush environment, in contrast to the more formal style of traditional Botanic Gardens. These magnificent gardens stretch for 1km along the Bruce Highway and provide an attractive, peaceful setting within the heart of Rockhampton. They offer Playground And Picnic Facilities
Barbeques are positioned near or adjacent to both the Charles and High Street carparks. Additional barbeques are provided near the playground area, where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surrounds while the kids build up an appetite playing on the swings and taking rides on the monorail. The gardens are open 24 hours, 365 days a year. Carpark opening times are between 7am and 6pm (or nightfall during winter).
